Priscilla Fowler
Opening Reception March 10 7PM

In March we are very excited to host Priscilla Fowler; an amazing and talented artist who has studied all over the U.S., is heavily involved in the Denver arts community and creates soft, delicate and natural abstracted work.
Priscilla comments on her work:
“My ideas are inspired by Nature, the ultimate artist. I don’t copy Her
directly but in my work there are forms similar to many of Her own. You
can “see” in my work slices of interesting geology, red blood cells,
bits of lichen, seashore creatures, and the edges of puddles drying
after rain or snow melt along Colorado’s rural dirt roads.
I started out making these images on paper with ink and acrylic. The
forms that emerged in the layers of these works were interesting and
colorful but captive in the rectangle of the work. They asserted
themselves, asking for more freedom, and leapt off the paper onto
Dura-Lar (like mylar). Now each form is independent and can be assembled
with many others into fluid groups, directly on the wall, or clustered
in a hanging piece. I have a lot of fun making this work and I love the
conversations with visitors to my studio who have many suggestions
about what to do next with these organically shaped components.“
